| Hate to do it, but....
Yeah.
Some decent prospects going Florida's way, for sure, but they are by no means the equivalent of what's leaving the Sunshine State.
Bergeron cancels out at least one of those players...due to the fact that he's played about an hour of hockey in two seasons, I'm going to choose Bryan Allen, as his worth isn't as much as any of the other three right now.
The cash could grab at least one of those prospects (a bargain, sure, but realistic).
Do the math...no way does this deal make sense to me.
Challenge. | |

| i challenge skwid's challenge.
first of all, the hypocricy of skwid challenging a trade is just mind boggling to begin with. ive been staring at the computer for the last three hours wondering if the guy who tried trading garry roberts for a 1st like two weeks ago(slhl) really challenged my trade, or if its some kind of prank.
...but anyway...
the value going to florida is well within reasonable bounds. colborne #16-2008, hamill #8-2007 and lashoff are all former 1st round picks. in fact, these are the top three prospects according to HF in my system aside from rask. nokelainen is playing with the ducks. the 1st speaks for itself and bergeron and ward are both good nhl players. bergeron has played 53 games this year, btw, which is, last i checked, slightly more than an hour.
btw, i love the biased breakdowns that people present when they're challenging trades. $3.5M for a top prospect?! yeah, sure.
without going into too much detail this is more or less the actual breakdown of the trade as maurizio and i discussed it:
colborne and hamil for horton
bergeron for lupul
van 1st for ballard
ward, lashoff & nokelainen for allen & $3.5M
is this trade really challenge worthy?!

| I believe this is a fair deal.....Florida is giving up quite a bit of talent yes...but think of what will happen if all the top prospects they got grow into big time players....then who will win this trade?...
its a risk / reward type deal......and i think its just fine
