| To Pits- Michael Peca, Raffi Torres, YR 2, COL 1, YR 2 CBJ 2, YR 2 CBJ 3, YR 2 CBJ 4, $5M Cash To CBJ- Jordan Staal
Yes, at first glance I "may" be giving up too much for a player whose playing on the third line in Pittsburgh. However, I fully expect Staal to live up to expectations and therefore have no problem treating him like the first round pick he is.
CBJ agrees to this deal.

| Give up too much? Wow...what exactly does Pittsburgh get back? I mean, really. lol Peca's on the verge of retirement, Torres is useless, the cash is okay and not one of those picks are guaranteed to be anything special. So, a lot of mediocrity for a young defensive forward...sound about right? (No, this isn't a challenge...I really couldn't give a damn. lol) | |

| Cap space for one, money to outbid on UFA's to shore up the first two lines, a solid PK Center who yes, is old but still only 34 years old. Torres is a bit player who can fight, check and fill in the void on pitts third line where Staal was playing.
Staal is a RFA after this season as well, don't you think he'll want a raise?
Plus add in 4 draft picks, one being a first rounder, one being a second the other two possibly being farts in the wind but still with the off chance of finding that elusive "gem"... it's 5-6 players for one current third liner.

| Yes, but didn't you once call him a 'franchise player' or 'future franchise player' and the 'leagues best defensive forward'? | |

| Edited the deal to add in a first rounder. Yes, I consider Staal a future franchise player if he is ever moved out of Pittsburgh.... IF... until then he played all last year on the third line and overall the deal seems to be fair. | |
