I don't really like this deal for Hamilton, but whatever. I've vowed not to challenge a deal unless it is absolutely terrible, and this one isn't quite that bad Wink

. Still though, I don't know much about Machacek, but HF says he might become a 2nd- or 3rd-liner if he makes it to the NHL. Brouwer will never become more than a third-liner himself, whereas Quick did really well on a bad LA team last year, and he's still very young.

Goalies are so wildly unpredictable, it's hard to accuratly judge a goalie trade unless it's a well proven commodity.

however I too thought Hamilton could have gotten more.

I still think Hamilton could have gotten more; agreed.

The biggest thing, however, is that Quick is caught in a system in LA. Bernier is the man of the future, and Ersberg, Zatkoff and Jones are no slouches, so he's in tough. With that said, I think he's #2 in their plans, behind Bernier, and if the latter ever falters, Quick could easily be #1 again.

THe thing is, Quick has no more then 1 more season as a starter at most. (some have him going in to camp as the #3 guy this fall). The starters job is Bernier's to lose.
